פסטיבל יום כדור הארץ

כשהציעו לי להצטרף להפקה של פסטיבל יום כדור הארץ הבנתי שאני בפנים. אני שייכת לקהילה, הבינו מי אני, פתחו לי את הדלת.

כשאתה זר, חדש ולא הכי צעיר, יש תהליך די מורכב שאתה עושה עם עצמך, ואז תהליך שאתה עובר עם הסביבה. זה קשור לשפה ,תרבות, שייכות, מעורבות, ביטחון עצמי, גמישות, פתיחות, רושם ראשוני ואז רושם המשכי. יש לך בעצם הזדמנות מרעננת להשיל מעצמך כל מיני דברים, מנהגים, הרגלים שדבקו בך במהלך השנים ולהביא את עצמך קצת אחרת. אולי טוב יותר....אף על פי שאומרים שאתה לוקח את עצמך איתך לכל מקום שאתה הולך, בכל זאת, אם את מודע ופתוח יש פה הזדמנות נאה לשינוי.

Every Day Is Earth Day🌎💚

יום כדור הארץ נחגג בעיירה שלי זו השנה השלישית ברציפות.

פסטיבל קטן, מקומי ומאד קהילתי. יום של פאן חברתי, מפגש אביב, מוסיקה, אוכל, דוכני העשרה בנושא אקולוגיה, כדור הארץ, מיחזור,שימור יערות ונהר, חקלאות וגינון.

אחד הדוכנים הוא של אמן מיוחד בשם ג'ון מרשל, שיש לו זיקה ליפן. הוא אמריקאי לכל דבר אבל מדבר יפנית ויש לו בית מדהים בן 6 קומות שהיה בעבר תחנת הקמח של העיירה. הבית הוא בין מוזיאון לסדנת יצירה. ג'ון מתמחה בצביעת בדי משי עם צבעים שהוא מפיק מהטבע. מצמחים מאבנים, קליפות ועוד. זאת טכניקה עתיקת יומין יפנית קלאסית ויש לו תלמידים מכל העולם.

The old flour mill

לצידו ניצב דוכן של אחים תאומים בני 85, נגרים מחוננים וגנני על, שהגיעו בתחילת שנות ה70 לעיירה והפכו חלק בלתי נפרד ממנה. הדוכן שלהם הוא דוכן נגרות שמדגים עבודות עץ מרהיבות ומעודנות (כולל ארונות קבורה עבודת יד) וזה מרכז משיכה מופלא לכל הילדים שבאים להשתמש בכלי עבודה של פעם ולבנות חרבות וכידונים...כמה סבלנות יש לנגרים המבוגרים וכמה סקרנות יש לילדים. כל כך יפה לראות אותם זה לצד זה. באופן טבעי נוצר קשר שלא כל כך מתקיים בעולמנו המהיר, עולם שמפריד בין קבוצות גיל במקום לאחד אותן.

Woodworking activity

את האירוע פותח ראש השבט האינדיאני בתפילה, שירה ותיפוף . קוראים לו רון לינקולן אבל השם השבטי שלו הוא "אזוקיה". זהו חיבור שהוא אך טבעי בין העמק המדהים, הטבע המסחרר, לבין האינדיאנים הילידים, בני שבטים, שגרו פה מאז ומתמיד או כמו שהם אומרים: מאז תחילת הזמן (since time began ) ובין הקהילה המגוונת שנוצרה פה במאה האחרונה.

את הטכס שלו הוא מסיים תמיד במשפט הזה:

"ותמיד תזכור שהחיים לא נמדדים על ידי כמות הנשימות שאנחנו נושמים, אלא על ידי הרגעים בהם נעתקה נשימתינו"

דוכן מעניין נוסף הוא "לאונג' בית מרקחת " בר קוקטיילים.

כל המשקאות טעימים להפליא, צבעוניים ובעלי ערך בריאותי, מחומרים טבעיים ואורגנים. חלק מהם גדלו בגינת תבלינים מפוארת של בעלת הדוכן. יש הרבה ידע בעיירה בנושא צמחי רפואה, רפואה טבעית, רוקחות. אנשים מגדלים צמחי מרפא בגינה שלהם ורוקחים מהם תרופות, סבונים, משחות, שמנים ותמרוקים.

נעים לי לחיות בקהילה.

אני אוהבת את העירבוב הזה בין שכבות הגיל. ההרגשה שהמבוגרים הם חלק רצוי, חשוב ומעניין שיש לו מה לתרום לקהילה. הסובלנות שיש לאנשים זה אל זה. הכבוד שיש למבוגרים כלפי הילדים. היכולת של קהילה לקיים אירוע כזה כמעט ללא תקציבים, ע"י מתנדבים בלבד.

באיזה שהיא צורה רכה, זורמת, לא כוחנית, לא שתלטנית, לא פדנטית.

ללא כל שאיפה לשלמות, מתהווה משהו, מושלם כפי שהוא .

Every day is earth day🌎

When I was invited to join the production team of the Earth Day Festival, I immediately knew I was in. I felt like I belonged to a community—they understood who I was and opened the door for me.When you're new, a stranger, and not the youngest anymore, there's quite a complex process you go through with yourself—and then a process you go through with your surroundings. It’s about language, culture, belonging, involvement, self-confidence, flexibility, openness, first impressions, and then the impressions that follow You actually get a refreshing opportunity to shed some things—customs, habits that have stuck to you over the years—and present yourself a little differently. Maybe even better...Even though they say you take yourself with you wherever you go, still, if you're aware and open, there’s a lovely opportunity here for change.

Earth Day Celebration🎶🦋

Earth Day has been celebrated in my town for the third year in a row.

It’s a small, local, and very community-oriented festival. A day of social fun, a spring gathering with music, food, and booths focused on ecology, Earth, recycling, forest and river conservation, agriculture, and gardening.

One of the booths belongs to a special artist named John Marshall, who has a deep connection to Japan. He’s fully American but speaks Japanese and owns an incredible six-story house that used to be the town’s flour mill. The house is a mix between a museum and a creative workshop.John specializes in dyeing silk fabrics with colors he extracts from nature—plants, stones, bark, and more. It’s an ancient, classic Japanese technique, and he has students from around the world.

Next to him is the booth of 85-year-old twin brothers—gifted carpenters and master gardeners—who arrived in the town in the early 70s and have become an inseparable part of it. Their booth showcases magnificent and delicate woodworking and is a wonderful attraction for children who come to use old-fashioned tools and build swords and spears.The elderly carpenters are incredibly patient, and the kids are full of curiosity. It's so beautiful to see them side by side. Naturally, a bond forms—something rarely seen in today’s fast-paced world that tends to separate generations instead of connecting them.

The event opens with a prayer, singing, and drumming by the head of the local Native American tribes. His name is Ron Lincoln, but his tribal name is "Azukiya."

This connection feels only natural—between the stunning valley and overwhelming nature, the indigenous tribes who have lived here since forever (or as they say: since time began), and the diverse community that has formed here over the last century.He always ends his ceramony with the same sentence:

"And always remember, life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away."

Another interesting booth is the "Apothecary Lounge" Cocktail Bar.All the drinks are wonderfully tasty, colorful, and healthy—made from natural, organic ingredients. Some of them were grown in the lush herb garden of the booth’s operator .

There’s a lot of knowledge in the valley about medicinal plants, natural healing, and herbal pharmacy. People grow healing herbs in their gardens and create medicines, soaps, ointments, oils, and cosmetics from them.

I enjoy living in this community.I love this blending of age groups. The feeling that older people are valued, interesting, and have something to contribute to the community. The tolerance people show one another. The respect that elders have for children. The ability of a community to put together such an event almost entirely without funding—run solely by volunteers.

In a soft, flowing way—not forceful, not overbearing, not perfectionist—something is being created that is perfect just as it is.
